My husband, Alec, and I were driving through Boulder City, Nevada and spotted a white unicorn -- a brick and mortar A&W restaurant! This is something that is nostalgice for both of us so we immediately made a u-turn and pulled into the parking lot. I ordered a classic Root Beer Float and he ordered a Root Beer Cream Freeze -- something I had never had before! With drinks in hand, we both took sips of the delicious drinks, and I just had to try his! It was absolutely amazing -- I'm shocked I'd never had it before!
Since that day a couple of weeks ago, we've talked about the Cream Freeze a dozen times, brought our sons there to try it themselves, and wished it was open at 11pm when we had a craving for it. Unfortunately, A&W restaurantes are closing down around the country, and this location is the last one in the entire state of Nevada. I have to wonder ... how long will this location be open? Will A&W in Nevada disappear forever? And then where will we get our tasty Root Beer Floats and Cream Freezes?
It's with this thought in mind, and a quick trip to the grocery store's freezer section, that inspired me to make the A&W Root Beer Cream Freeze at home for me and my family. Turns out it was a very very good decision, and I highly recommend you make it too!
Here's how it turned out. Follow for more recipes or tutorials here or on social media.
